Sometimes a painting begins as a simple exercise and gradually becomes something more. This piece started as a study of palm trees inspired by a reference photo generously shared by Tammy Boss from Bermuda. As the painting developed the scene felt too quiet and unfinished so I added a distant sailboat and foreground rocks to create a sense of story and balance.
